Ask, Don’t Ask

I dislike being asked one question in particular once I have waited in the checkout line and having plied all my groceries on the conveyor belt, and stepping in front of the card processing machine at that moment before the first item is scanned, I am asked: “Did you find everything you were looking for?”

15 years I have frequented that establishment and never have I answered no. Occasionally, however, I express the difficulty in locating the items once the lights went out, however, I was thankful for the braille. The other day, the cashier looked up momentarily and remarked, “There’s braille?”
