May’s blue invasion
Perennial weed of spring
In my yard, be free.
Ajuga, also known as bugle weed, ground pine, carpet bugle, or just bugle has quickly became my favorite perennial. My appreciation for its beauty only occurred after i gave up on trying to eradicate it and was able to witness the mounds of blue it produced and the bumblebees it attracted. Many call it a weed, but it is actually sold as a perennial ground cover, in many nurseries. As part of the mint family, that should indicate a caution for those who like avweed free lawn. It is very invasive, but invades in a beautiful blue way when you allow it to do so.
