Burial of a Plant

Wandering around in Stockholm, I found this open casket with a dead plant inside. I must say I find the idea to give plants the same reverence as humans and pets quite touching; this little palm tree must have given comfort to his owner for several years and acquired a proper soul in the process. I was unsure what to make of the fact that the casket is without lid, and that it is placed on the public sidewalk, but upon further reflection I could see the point: the owner, stricken by the demise of his favorite tree, wants to share his grief with as many people as possible and wants to remind them of the debt we all owe to our green companions.
