Can you Guess?
Two people guessed it right (facebook guessers). The marks are on rafters of an extension on a ranch stable building. The roof is metal. It is attached to the rafters with nails, set close so as to resist high winds. When the weather dips to extreme cold, these nails frost up on both the tin roof side and on the underside of the roof.
When the sun comes out, the frost condenses and drips down the rafters leaving watermarks on the 2x6’s (or are they 2x8's?) eventually creating this pattern. I was fascinated by the shapes of these things — the lighter parts reminding me of screwdrivers, but then, in other places even figures seemed to be on the frieze, and some of the figures reminded me of hieroglyphics or ancient runes, or exotic Asian characters. Below I will post some of the surroundings that would have given away the puzzle if you all had seen them.
I am growing more and more attached to the barn and horse pasture and the farmhouse. The air, the winsome weather, the biting winds, the sunlight especially in early morning and at sundown. The well water is amazingly clear, and clean and cold. Artesian well. Refilled bird feeders bring magpies and swallows among other species. My painting stuff has its own corner at the back of the house now, and plenty of light and storage and quiet and privacy.
What art maker wouldn’t love it?
The most amazing sights lie for years in plain view. Here is a shot from yesterday, credit W.Muller 2019… Anyone want to venture a guess?
