Caught in the flow
A wonderful evening presenting our graphic poem STROOM
Friends, loved ones and colleagues gathered in Qarfa’s book-filled attic.
Jurgen Walschot and I talked about our improbable encounter(s) and the creative spark that somehow struck, and illustrated how from a tiny Sapling seed a complete book sprouted.
Peter Moerenhout from the VOS (Stripgilde) Publishing House held a little talk, in which he admitted to in fact not liking poetry at all —but there we were, in early 2018, knocking at his door presenting our graphic poem — but also admitted he had fallen for STROOM four pages into the book. While he was at it, he managed to insult all the poets present in the most hilarious sort of way.
We had a drink and autographed as many books as our heart-warming audience desired.
So here we are, more than two years after stepping off the cliff, in that moment when we decided to trust both each other and the creative force that had brought us together, and we set out to do something that hadn’t been done before.
There is flow. A lot of it. And everyone attending yesterday evening has felt it.
And we are in that flow, and following it —feet not quite touching solid ground, eyes fixed on the horizon.
