Covid Pause

I simply sit

Pause…..pause…..

By the pond.

No ducks, no geese,

No herons, no seagulls,

No breeze,

No ripples in the pond.

Pause of stillness and silence,

Earth enraptured in a moment of quiet,

Clear air, clean water,

Planes and cars parked

As covid travels.

Soon the pause and stillness

Will return to busy and noisy,

And we can choose to keep

That pause and stillness within

And pass the time with

Moon and ancient stars,

Listening to birds singing,

Watching butterflies and bees

Flitting from flower to flower.

I simply sit,

Pause…..pause…..pause…..

Earth does not belong to us,

We belong to Earth.
