The Final Piece of the Puzzle

A view of Fredericksburg from our (Falmouth) side of the Rappahannock River

Ahhh, they finally arrived, just in time. We ordered a jacuzzi and swim-spa about 6 weeks ago, hoping they would arrive before Christmas. They showed up on the 23rd, the jacuzzi was ready for soaking by Christmas Eve, and the swim-spa was ready for a Christmas morning swim — it took a lot longer to heat up than the jacuzzi.

We had both items where we lived in Vienna, the swim-spa for the past 5 years, the jacuzzi for about 12 years. We made a decision not to try to bring either down to Fredericksburg, so sold the swim-spa and gave away the jacuzzi.

Three months without either were probably that one thing that still nagged at the back of the consciousness about it not yet quite feeling like home, here, even though in many other ways, it feels more like home here than Vienna ever did.

But, now that the jacuzzi and swim-spa are in place and usable, I can get back to my swimming routine, a very important component of my fitness program, and the jacuzzi — well, that’s a very important component of our comfort level. There is absolutely nothing quite like a good soak in a jacuzzi after a hard day at work, with the long commute both ways. It just melts all of one’s cares away with the heat and the jets, as they lull you into a deep sense of relaxation. It’s also a wonderful place to meditate.

I hope everyone is enjoying a wonderful, relaxing holiday season, whatever holiday it is that you celebrate, Christmas, Chanuka, Diwali, Kwanzaa, Bodhi Day, or Festivus — I hope you experience some peace, family time, friend time, or just some peaceful time with your spirit, or all of the above.

I do like to think of all who have touched my life this past year, at this time, and breathe in a thank you to all, and breathe out a hope for a bright, inspiring year ahead.
