If They are Going Round and Round, Stand Still
by Susan G Holland
It was about meeting in a Park & Ride. I said “I’ll just circle round and round and you can wave me down.” He was standing still at the stairway the second lap. It worked really well. Not like the grocery story with the aisles and both people moving around looking with no arrangement like “meet you at the checkout.” It occurs to me that this is like collaborating with a teammate who’s functioning in circles with too much on the agenda at once. It doesn’t really help to chase this person. It is much more helpful to just wait until things stop spinning. You may be the only one in his world who is not a moving target! He will stop when it’s the right moment, and stopping will be the best thing you can do for the situation.
Stop.
Breathe.
Think.
