What have we learned from isolation?

From scarce groceries, and rules about masks, and keeping ?distance between us and our loved ones, and from not hugging any more? What have we learned that is the most important thing? And the next most important thing? What have we learned to do without?

Food..Shelter..Clothing… and……………?

Would we be still alive if the internet went down?

Could we survive if we had to walk to safety?

Do we require medications and oxygen and insulin and potable water? Does it matter if the house is messy?

What if we didn’t have 911? What if 911 didn’t have gas in their ambulance? And what if the power went out for good?

How about our pets? Would we eat them?????

Gratitude for just the presence of another human is something we may be learning anew. Gratitude for sufficient water to wash our clothes and dishes. Gratitude for the US Mail!

Or is it demolished and we don’t get mail any more? The phones are out and cell phones can’t connect. Will we be glad for the old crystal set that someone old knows how to make? Will we develop a whistling language to communicate with neighbors? Or drums?

Can we do without pampers?

Imagine it. How many people in the USA know how to live without heat and running water? What do we eat when the cupboard’s bare.

This is what is on my mind today — the reality of a disconnected society in a divided world.

Who would survive? On what do YOU base your HOPE?

We are running out of solutions.
