sun gracing sharp grass,

stone touching thighs,

warm air weaving through matted locs —

the green of march corrects

the red stains of february.

there is reconciliation in the magnolia;

where her bloom meets branch

i’m taught to mend our differences —

fashioning fallen petals

as patches.
