NO LUCK

I have experienced a lifetime of luck, attributing events and circumstances to something other than my creation. An illusionary — luck experience — was not recognition of fortuitous encounters in my life, but attributed to discontinuity, rather than flow.

By my nature, I found safe harbor as gales of emotional upheaval blew my life apart. By another’s generosity, I found refuge. My path looked erratic and socially judged, outward signs of progress could not be detected. My path, however, led me toward the sea of self-recognition.

On the shore of self-awareness, I recognize the ebb and flow of my existence. Consequences of choices and resultant behaviors, the thoughts and feelings I foster, how I handle and come to terms with deep-seated reactions and patterns, this is life rather than a series of events connected by a thing called luck.

Luck does have a place in my life and that is while playing Hearts.
