Many many years ago,
lived in a castle,
under the sea,
a little mermaid princess,
fair and beautiful,

Ocean,
vast and blue —
her kingdom,
her first love,

For her fondness
for pearls,
she was known
by the name,
Pearl Queen,

She swam,
far and distant sea,
all day long,
in search of broken
shell and pearl,

Ornaments,
glistening and precious,
adorned her
bare neck and arms,

One day,
poor princess
lost her way,
stranded far away
from her kingdom,

The sea turned
pitch-dark and gloomy,
frightened pearl queen
cried, cried, and cried,

Wandering alone
in dark,
Pearl queen found a home
built of Iron,

Finding it safe,
she decided to stay,
and soon fell asleep,

The deep sea cage,
built of strong iron,
set by man,
accomplished its mission…
