Pre-Fall Revisited

Pre-fall

the maples, the walnut, and the beech
slowly, but surely begin.
leaves drop,
in time,
to be raked and recycled.

The ground, still mostly bare,
soon blanketed with fall’s crispness,
awaits the mighty oaks
to shed their bronze garb
slowly, piece by piece.
the last to disrobe
joining nature’s striptease.
but not in today’s moment.

I walk and listen for the maple leaf
to gently fall, then land.
notice the change
see this order of nature
hear the lightest touch
upon the ground.

Small sounds,sights
tickling my insides
the essence of me this day.
