SAPLING #69 — Scattered

So here you are.

I won’t tell you it doesn’t hurt. And I won’t wish, however much I would like to, for it to be over soon. Learning to live with grief requires time.

Time — wasn’t there a fairy tale that spoke of healing wounds, or at least of softening their sting?
Closer to the truth would be to say that we excavate time with both hands, more or less like we scoop sand to dig a pit where old dreams can be laid to rest.

You can also scatter them, if that idea appeals to you, preferably across water, since it always knows which way to flow.

What would be a blessing, is for the sand to gently settle. And for the water to grow clearer, flowing like it always does, in its long, broad lanes, down to the sea.

The SAPLING series is a joint project with artist and illustrator Jurgen Walschot.
Saplings are creative sprouts. I will write to the images, he will draw to the words.
