STROOM has arrived!
The first book to grow out of the Sapling collaboration
Every author knows it.
The most exciting moment of all on that long, long road to publication (except perhaps for the one when a publisher tells you he is willing to publish your work): the time when you are holding your book for the first time.
What started out as a single Sapling (a creative sprout in the multi-faceted project I started with artist and illustrator Jurgen Walschot back in February of 2017, and which is still ongoing), grew into something much bigger and more concrete.
STROOM (the oo sounds like in foam, it’s Dutch for ‘stream’ or ‘current’) is now no longer a dream, but a real book. And it is absolutely magnificent. A gem, a collector’s item. Jurgen and I have poured our love, our dedication and our faith in it. And look: dreams do come true, thanks to our publisher VOS (Vlaamse Onafhankelijke Stripgilde) and a handful of people who cannot be overestimated as beacons and source of support.
The book is in Dutch. We have an English version that is as good as finished as well, and yes, there’s definitely the ambition for a publication in English. Any interested publishers hanging around on Medium are welcome to contact me… ;-)
Now all that is left to do, is trust the stream that has brought us to this point — a vista from which we both enjoy our very fruitful collaboration, the dear friendship that followed in its wake, and the promises the future holds. We’ll enjoy every wave that comes our way, and the ever-changing landscape behind every next turn.
