The lessons of Love

When you have loved another so fully

That you have lost all sense of yourself

Then you will invariably get a lesson

That is heart break and betrayal.

When you go through it, it is so hard

That you can vow to yourself

That you will not love again.

The lesson needs to be learnt though

For your own soul evolution

You need to learn forgiveness

And to learn discernment

To find a middle path between loving

Yourself and another.

The reason you were betrayed was because

You were attached too much to the person

Or to the idea of what love is

You valued love and the other

More than yourself or maybe you didn’t value them enough.

This is not real love.

A love that is not balanced

Is actually destructive

It will not lead to fulfilment

It becomes a form of attachment

To a person or state of being

Betrayal is inevitable

As things don’t remain the same

Reality is fickle

A love that stands the test of time

This love is balanced between friendship

And self-care.

Love is a form of non-attachment

Of acceptance but also a choice to trust

To not be armoured or non-caring

To behave as if you do not desire love

That is a form of self-defeat.

Love is just there. It is supportive.

It is as much in the birds and trees

The clouds and the sky

As it is in your beloved’s eyes.

Love is not about ownership

And always getting your way

It is about understanding

And patience.

This world and people in it

They will break your heart

So you can learn to love better

However don’t give into bitterness

Learn the lessons

Choose to heal instead of repeating

The same patterns.

Don’t give up on Love

It is the stuff that makes up your cells

So however hard others have tried

To disillusion you.

Know that your path is inevitably

Back to love. Back to yourself.
