First Morning Sun on Debordieu, SC

Why am I here, today? This question can only be answered today. Why? Am I? Here, in this place, in this day, today — what am I doing here?

I kind of like it when I don’t have a ready answer to that question. It’s unsettling at first. I should always know why I’m here, should always have a plan, know what I’m doing, where I’m going, and why. Shouldn’t I?

Morning Beach scene, Debordieu, July 2, 2017

Maybe not. Maybe it’s better to not know. Maybe then I’m more open to the possibilities this day may have in store for me. Maybe I am better off wondering and not knowing and just making myself ready for…anything. Or, maybe, nothing. Maybe I need to be okay with either eventuality for this day.

It might be the most important day of my life. Actually, it is. It is the one I have to work with, right here, right now. It’s the only one I have.

What am I going to do with it?

I have no idea. I’m just going to walk into it, and see what happens.

What about you? What’s in store for you this day? Do you know? Do you care? Is it all set — or are you open to possibility? Do these questions make you uncomfortable? They’re not meant to, but if they do — maybe that’s good. Or, maybe not.

Who knows?

I sure don’t.

Have a great day. Happy Independence Day for those of you who celebrate it. For those who don’t — I hope you enjoy the day, just the same. Whatever you wind up doing — may you be in it, and bring to it all that you are, and all you have to bring.

It is, after all, the only one we have.

Today — it’s all right here.
