Transforming Belief to a Relationship
Prayer is what transforms
My belief into a relationship
With God, as I understand God;
Prayer is the key to the mystery.
Many forms I pray each day,
Though each day starts the same;
Upon my transition from dream to wake,
These words I’ve learned to speak.
Silently, yet mindfully, before I rise,
Still laying there, a prayer for life,
To lead me through this day
Not alone, but walking with Thee.
“God, I offer myself to Thee,
To build with me and to do with me
As Thou wilt; Relieve me of the bondage
Of self, that I may better do Thy will…
“Take away my difficulties that victory over them
May bear witness to those I would help
Of Thy power, Thy love, and Thy way of life;
May I do Thy will always.”* (A.A.’s 3rd Step Prayer)

God is Life, not just living, does not give Life,
But God is Life, where God is, there Life is.
Joy is one of the highest expressions
Of God as Life — let there be Joy!
God is Truth, not truthful but Truth itself,
Wherever there is Truth, there is God,
There are many things relatively true, at times,
But God is absolute Truth, at all times.
God is Love, not loving but Love itself,
The most important aspect of all, Love is,
There is no condition that Love will not heal,
They that dwelleth in love, dwelleth in God, and God in them.
God is Intelligence, alive in an intelligent universe,
In an intelligent universe there is no disharmony,
All ideas must work together for common good,
When we fully realize this, there is no lack.
God is Soul, the aspect in which God individualizes,
Individual meaning “undivided”, God is
Individualized in each, without breaking apart
You are an individualization of God, as I am.
God is Spirit, that which cannot be destroyed,
Matter wears out but Spirit does not,
Spirit is substance, that which underlies manifestation,
Spirit cannot die and was never born, Spirit is.
God is Principle, eternally manifest in the same way,
Praying rightly brings us into harmony with
The law of being, prayer does not change the laws,
But brings us into tune with divine Principle.
I contemplate these seven main aspects of God,
Through reading, prayer, contemplation,
Then, with God’s help embark upon meditation,
Where I stop asking, and start listening — Amen.
