Water Therapy & Thoughts

Nice being on the ‘Hanna again!

It had been more than a year and I missed it dearly. Thanks to a river trip gifted to me for Mother’s Day by my youngest son, that long absence was interrupted. It would be a short 7–8 mile float on the lower branch of the Susquehanna, part of the annual River Fest 2018 activities.

I warned him that I was not sure I could manage getting in and out of my kayak, due to the state of my knees lately, and would probably need some assistance — a new reality for this woman whose passion is her independence. To my welcomed surprise, I had no problem getting in, however rising up out of my small vessel found me to be totally dependent upon my son’s brawn.

A river break midway.

Once on the river, I was free again — -FREE to think whatever with no agenda when floating the black waters(with the exception of navigating the occasional class 2 rapids), free to just take in the beauty of the river, or free to take in nature’s lessons.

The trip proved to be uplifting for my soul and a great segue into my two week ocean getaway with the tent and the dog two days later.

Just a thought from my kayak/water therapy session: “Feed your dreams with streams of passion, so that the current guides you into the river of your chosen reality.”
