The Burning Man Festival takes place annually at the Black Rock Desert, Pershing County in Nevada, United States. It is considered one of the most famous festivals in the world. For eight consecutive days, thousands of people gather at the Black Rock — a make-shift city in Nevada to celebrate arts and creativity. The festival usually takes place between August and September — during the labor day celebrations.

During the ceremony, a massive burnfire is organized using a large stuffed puppet. The event gives opportunities for creatives to freely express themselves in form of exhibitions, yoga, music, acting, and much more.

In 1986, Larry Harvey and his friend Jerry James came together to organize the Burning Man Festival. Prior to this, Harvey had been attending a similar summer solstice burnfire ritual which was organized by Mary Grauberger a friend of his then-girlfriend Janet Lohr. When Grauberger stopped organizing the burnfire event, Harvey asked for permission to carry on the ritual.

So on June 22, 1986, Harvey and James had a few friends over at Baker Beach in San Francisco to celebrate the summer solstice. There…
