We’ve changed the way you add a story to a publication

The tools for requesting, submitting, and removing a post from a publication have moved.

Published posts

If you navigate to a published post page, you will see an ellipsis in the bottom right corner:

Click that, and depending on your intention and the state of the post, it will say one of three things:

If you are an editor requesting the story:
It will say “Request story.” Click that, and choose the publication you would like to request the story into. A new page will open with a request email for you to send to the author. They do not have to be a writer for your publication.

If you are a writer/editor for a publication submitting your published story:
It will say “Add to publication.” Click that, and a list of available publications will pop up. If you are a writer for a publication, your post will be submitted for review, and the editors will be notified. If you are an editor/owner of a publication, the story will immediately be included in the publication.

If you are the author of the post trying to remove it from a publication:
It will say “Remove story from publication.” You can remove a pending submission of a published story this way as well.

Drafts

If you navigate to a draft page, you will see an ellipses to the right of the “Publish” button:

Click that, and depending on who you are, it will say one of two things:

If you are the author of the draft:
It will say “Add to publication.” Click that, and a list of available publications will pop up. If you are a writer for a publication, your draft will be submitted for review, and the editors notified. You can also withdraw your submission this way. While the draft is pending acceptance, you can not publish it.

If you are an editor/owner of a publication and the author, the draft will be immediately included in the publication, but not yet published. You need to publish it to have it appear in the publication.

If you are the publication editor/owner:
It will say “Manage submission.” Click that, and you can either accept or reject the draft. If you accept it, only you can publish the story into the publication. The writer is unable to publish that story while it is pending publication.
