My core is spiritual — it always has been, even though I didn’t have the words to describe it at a young age.

Mother Teresa was the first person who resonated with my spiritual nature.

In my 20s, Mother Teresa caught my attention. It was on television. What I remember is feeling a strong connection to her journey. Not in the sense that I’m as ascended in my spirituality as she is, but in the sense that I understood her inner beauty and pure desire/need to serve those in need. I sensed a spiritual nature in her that resonated with my spirit and soul.

My spiritual journey has included reading about her journey and absorbing her famous quotes. One quote in particular caught my attention a while back…

“Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow has not yet come. We have only today. Let us begin.”

Mother Teresa had such an inner bright light and soul… that’s what I sensed.

I didn’t strive to be like her. I strived to bask in her pure nature and her gifts. She was so aware of her life purpose.

I remember reading about her efforts to help Calcutta’s poorest and most desperate people. Seeing her selfless nature in action was a joy to watch

I knew very little about her. I knew she had dedicated her life to her religion from a young age. She became a nun at the tender age of 18. Her nationality was always a topic of conversation.

When asked to describe her nationality, she said, “By blood, I am Albanian. By citizenship, I am Indian, by faith, I am a Catholic nun. As to my heart, I belong entirely to the heart of Jesus.”

She was indeed a remarkable woman, a visionary. A beam of light followed her wherever she went. Her humility carried her to so many places and people. Her unwavering love for humanity was evident in her eyes.

She was a gift to this Universe, and her work continues today in many ways.

Mother Teresa… Thank you for sharing your inner beauty and selfless heart with this world. You will never be forgotten.
