This is trick or treat for adults
The enchanting garland of burnt orange, deep red and papery yellow you hang along your fireplace
Because why should the children have all the fun

Igniting the apple cinnamon candles, you’ve dotted around the house
The excuse to pour that velvety hot chocolate that relaxes you another ounce
This is trick or treat for adults

Toasting those airy clouds of fluff called marshmallows or s’mores
As the fire glows and crackles drowning out the sound of sugar high children running the streets
Because why should the children have all the fun

Sliding on cosy socks or slippers as you sink into your sofa with a thick woollen throw
Popping on Hocus Pocus, Black Mirror or finally getting time to read Sleepy Hollow
This is trick or treat for adults

Carving pumpkins is not a trend I follow
But dressing my unimpressed dog up as a phantom is
Because why should the children have all the fun

There are many reasons why this season for adults should be appealing
These warm cosy moments have officially begun
This is trick or treat for adults
Because why should the children have all the fun
