Facebook is a Frozen Garden of Old Friends, Old Flames, and No Change
A former past dweller’s self-analysis of why I still log in and show up to a place that’s been a shadow of its old self for years.
Sunshine and darkness can’t dwell in the same place. — P.o.p. The Writer
Are you ever amid a mindless FB scroll (Most of them on social media are) and see someone you’ve been friends with for 10+ years make a post, and that same group you once were a part of is still engaging and reacting to their posts?
I can look at it two ways:
- It’s great to have loyal and consistent people in your corner. I know, I have a new network of them elsewhere. It happens with growth and progression.
- If you’re over 40 (Most likely), do you remember preteens having their favorite group they worshipped and idolized?
Some fans and groupies are growing older and still appear at those nostalgic concerts with grey hair. That’s what the experience was like.
I’m just talking. This is like my notes app because my engagement is a ghost town—it’s the nothingness. I don’t complain because I’m still there. Why is that?
