We are still praying for rain, for love, and for joy to happen in our lives.

By Segun Ade-Martins

As we enter a period representing our humanity, I’ve been reflecting on life with a new collection of 17 songs.

It’s still hot, but with gusts of wind here and there. This playlist’s underlying theme is, as before, love. Love for yourself, love for another, love for nature, and everything in its order.

Here’s my free verse poem that enhances my thoughts on the sounds vibrating in the aether through the portals of these sounds.

Album cover of The Lagos Music Salon by Somi

If she takes my heart,

Will I feel it?

Please don’t do any damage.

Don’t abuse your power.

For now, we lay nocturnal.

And speculate on what we feel.

Looking at the constellations,

For Koi swimming in harmony

As sheep cross the night sky.

Non-physical, emotional kisses

In the eyes of the beholder.

I’m beholden to the thunder that follows you.

It fills a lonely life with moments.

Momentous in an alté reality

But understated in its true immensity

But suddenly, we are falling.

Like raindrops, lightning gets bent.

And it comes in like thunder.
