The Guy

Tears rolling down his puffy eyes and swollen cheeks, his suit jacket and shirt were visibly drenched in pain and anguish. After all the yelling and screaming he’s been doing over this phone conversation in a deserted subway car, he’s left with no physical nor mental energy anymore to even hold his phone by his ears. As he bends down to pick his dropped phone, he’s surprised to notice that he had company, all this while. He looked at him, in pain, with an apologetic nod, and some effort, walks to the other end of the car continuing his phone conversation.

The Man

His rugged clothing, scruffy torn shawl, messed up salt and pepper hair, wrinkly old face are all clouded by his deep soulful eyes. Today his sorrows had a different reason, he was sad for a different reason, he was sad for this guy, he could feel the guy’s pain, he could hear the silent screams coming from the teary eyes from the far end of the car.

They Meet

On his way out of the subway car at his stop, with a gentle and compassionate nudge on the guy’s shoulder, the man says..

Son, you can’t make up for the lost time,
but you sure can make up for the lost relationship.
