Did you ever have a person in your life asking you what you want, understanding why you want it, pushing you, motivating you to get past all your hurdles and to get to the finish line?

Did you ever have a person in your life picking up your slack when you are low, patting you on your back when you are tired, cheering you on every little milestone you cross?

Did you ever have a person in your life who always taught you something new, showed you there’s always something more to know, something more to learn, to make you better, better than you already are, a better version of yourself?

Did you ever have a person in your life to look up to, a person to confide your deepest and darkest little secrets, a person to bounce off your crazy dumb ideas, a person to fallback on when you underachieve on your overambitious dreams?

Did you ever have a person in your life who talked through your thoughts and thought through your actions, who challenged your plans but supported your actions?

Did you ever have a person in your life…

Wait, I can be that person. I can be that person for myself. Not just for myself, I can be that person for everyone around me. Why look for that person when I myself could to be that person? What’s the worst that could happen? I’d fail. Yeah, if I try to be that person, I might fail. Nah, I would fail. Eventually.

Instead, I could aspire to be that person. Since it’s an aspiration, I should probably pursue to be that person. Not just be that person, but pursue to be that person. Like the pursuit of happiness. The present continuous tense.
