Giannis Antetokounmpo is on his way to being the best player in the NBA.

Opening Week in the NBA was amazing. We had an Andrew Wiggins game-winner (He’s going to be really good this year), a Russell Westbrook triple-double (of course), and Golden State Warrior losses (enjoy them now because they’re still going to win 65+). We’re all glad that the NBA is back. However, the biggest story has to be Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Bleacher Report had him ranked as the fifth best player in the league and I thought they were crowning him too early. Yes, he’s really good but he doesn’t have a jumper and you need that in today’s NBA. Boy was I wrong. Through three games, the Greek Freak is averaging 38.3 points per game, 9.7 rebounds per game, 5 assists per game, and 2.7 steals per game. He’s been otherworldly. The discussion was that there are many different unicorns in the game. Guys like Giannis, Kristaps Porzingis, and Karl Anthony-Towns are players that the NBA hasn’t seen before. But, this year, Giannis is taking it a step forward. He’s not a Unicorn. He’s rarer. He’s a dragon. Look at this:

That play is something that only Giannis can make. Aron Baynes couldn’t believe it even happened. He thought no way Giannis could slam that home. But, Giannis is a dragon. There’s nothing impossible for him.

The crazy thing about this guy is that he is only 22. ONLY 22. NBA players typically hit their athletic prime when they reach 27 years old. This guy has 5 more years to grow. He’s already arguably a top five player right now. I can’t even begin to imagine where he is going next. I’ve never seen anyone like Giannis. He has the potential to be one of the greatest basketball players ever. Let’s pray he stays healthy.

Guys like Lebron James, Kevin Durant, and Kawhi Leonard better watch out. Dragon Giannis is coming for the throne.
