Kennard Three sinks Wake Forest
Luke Kennard drilled a three-pointer with 6.6 seconds remaining to help No. 17 Duke close the game on a 9–0 run and stun Wake Forest on the road. Kennard finished the game with 34 points on 11–14 shooting and 6–6 from three.
Wake Forest led 83–76 with 2:10 remaining in the game, but the Blue Devils erased the deficit to pull off the victory. The Demon Deacons are an average opponent — they entered the game 12–8 on the season — but it’s an important win for Duke. The Blue Devils have had a disappointing season to this point. A loss to Wake Forest could have potentially knocked Duke from the Top 25.
Grayson Allen scored 19 points and Frank Jackson scored nine off the bench to join Kennard as leading scorers for Duke. Bryant Crawford scored 26 points to lead Wake Forest while John Collins scored 20 points.
It would have been a monumental win for Wake Forest coach Danny Manning, but Kennard’s dagger ended that hope.
