In Wind, musician Lucas Wood collaborated with Ethan Kell, who works in photography and videography.

Wood’s audio was used to score a video taken by Kell in the Spring of 2018, in which the photographer added an element of temporality to his photography, by capturing a moment in a single-shot video, rather than a photograph.

Both the video and audio, composed a full year after the video was shot, explore what Kell calls a “calm chaos.”

“The video was created entirely for pleasure, during a ‘stop and smell the roses’ moment last spring.

The original audio was the raw camera recording of a heavy wind — a sound that was in many ways recreated musically by Lucas.”

“Because the added music expanded upon the audio that came with the video, the visual, auditory, and atmospheric experience are shifted into a somewhat metaphysical realm. The experimental nature of the Lucas’ composition enhanced and mirrored the calm chaos of the video.” — Ethan Kell
