We all make mistakes because we’re human. We’re not perfect, and we never will be. But that’s okay, because we can learn from our mistakes and become better people as a result. All we need to do is to be patient with ourselves and have the courage to live life for what it is, without giving up.

Tony Robbins has said that the only way to grow is through adversity, “Identify your problems, but give your power and energy to solutions.” And he’s right. We can’t learn and grow without making mistakes. So don’t be too hard on yourself when you make a mistake — just learn from it and move on. You’ll be stronger and wiser for it.

Courage

What gives us courage is often simply a matter of perspective. It’s all about how we see things, and what we believe is possible. When we have a clear sense of purpose and know what we’re fighting for, it’s much easier to summon up the courage we need.

And when we’re committed to something larger than ourselves — whether it’s our family, our community, or even just a cause we believe in — that also gives us strength.

Of course, there are also times when being courageous means acting in spite of our fears. In those moments, it helps to remind ourselves that fear is often just an illusion; it’s only as powerful as we allow it to be.

Be kind to yourself and use self-criticism constructively

If you’re anything like me, then stopping yourself from doing stupid things is something that requires constant vigilance and effort. Here are some things that have helped me:

1- Remaining aware of my triggers and avoiding them if possible.

2- keeping a “stupid things I did today” journal to help me catch myself in the act and reflect on why I did those things.

3- Talking to close friends or family members about my struggles in this area, so they can provide support and accountability.

4- Setting strict rules for myself regarding what kinds of behavior are acceptable and seeing how long I can go without breaking those rules.

Final thoughts

Have the courage to be who you are. Love yourself even when you make mistakes and don’t get discouraged when life’s challenges show you obstacles and adversity. Be kind to yourself when it’s hard to do, and remember always that you are growing spiritually, and mentally — every single day. You are a wonderful creature, find authenticity in the way you really are.
