That was the reality of most Southern Italian women during the Italian diaspora.
Maria Vincenza Perillo was born on January 6th, 1883 in Muro Lucano, Potenza, Basilicata, Italy. She came to America on November 24th, 1905–17 months after her husband Federigo.
