On today’s virtual reality series, Mark Zuckerberg delivers a breathtaking demo of “Oculus Connect”

Continuing our Virtual Reality Series of articles, lets talk about Oculus Connect which was acquired by Facebook for $2 billion back in 2014.

Thousands of the Virtual Reality enthusiasts gathered for news and celebration in San Jose on 5th of October 2016 and Mark Zuckerberg did not disappoint them.

Here’s the crazy virtual reality demo I did live on stage at Oculus Connect today. The idea is that virtual reality puts people first. It’s all about who you’re with. Once you’re in there, you can do anything you want together — travel to Mars, play games, fight with swords, watch movies or teleport home to see your family. You have an environment where you can experience anything.

In the Virtual Reality Series, Zuckerberg hung out with two Facebook employees — one of whom, Michael Booth, heads up Facebook’s Social VR team. The trio’s avatars were more accurate, if cartoonish, versions of themselves; the 360-degree environments they surrounded themselves with were videos, rather than photos. But when Zuckerberg’s wife Priscilla Chan pinged him with a video call via Facebook Messenger, Zuckerberg answered it, bringing a 2-D video feed of Chan into their VR space. On Chan’s own phone, she saw the three avatars in the virtual space, and Zuckerberg could even steer her perspective by moving the video feed around. There was, of course, an obligatory selfie — which Zuck then posted from VR to his own Facebook feed.

You can now customize your VR identity for more memorable interactions from unique textures to clothing, accessories, and more — you can build something that truly represents your own style.

2. Virtual Rooms and Parties

Part of VR’s magic lies in the ability to share and experience games and experiences with someone who isn’t physically there. you can instantly meet up with your friends in VR to hang out, watch movies, or launch the same app simultaneously to explore the ecosystem together.

3. Audio integration: Oculus Earphones

The new Oculus Earphones has a solid bass response while maintaining excellent mid/high levels for a well-balanced sound signature. They also include passive noise isolation to help block out distractions from the outside world.

4. Expanding mobile ecosystem

Over 400 apps are already compactble with the Virtual Reality Series gear. You can also start a Facebook Live broadcast and share your VR experiences in real time.
