The Sweat Experience Inception
I have always been a curious individual and this has led me to different opportunities and experiences one of them being a project called Get Toned, a sports and fitness platform. I worked to produce videos showcasing athletes between 16–25 years of age, documenting how they got to where they were and discovering how far they intended to go. For Get Toned I collaborated with Godfrey Mercado, a videographer , as well as my co-founder Alex Owusu-Ansah who contributed towards the visuals and concepts for the videos. This was actually a really great experience for me, I didn’t really have a strategy or a plan, I was just curious about sports and athletes, those who were coming up the ranks especially, which is why wanted to showcase them in a fun and interactive way.
Here are some of the videos;

Although I had succeeded in creating something that was inline with my interests, I still felt I could do something more. What that “something” was I didn’t know until I had the opportunity to work at the London 2012 Olympics at a retail store. Throughout the duration of the event I was able to meet the likes of Serena and Venus Williams, Michael Phelps and Lebron James to name a few. I felt the energy and the atmosphere that surrounded them and I saw the impact in which their presence had on the spectators and fans. This was something that really resonated with me and I become curious and interested in their journey, their path and how they got to where they were. Which experiences led these people to the position they were in?
The Sweat Experience, initially going to be a feature of Get Toned, evolved into something else, something fueled by my curiosity and passion for sports and in particular athletes, and the boundaries that they can break for themselves within the sports world.
At The Sweat Experience our mission is to make the endeavours of athletes more accessible.
We would like The Sweat Experience to redefine athlete discovery, creating a world where athletes have more control over their profiles and how they present themselves, by having their path within their sport on display.
This is the concept we started out with and with the introduction of a new technical team member, Andrew MacDonald, we are making strides to creating an exciting product that will have a huge impact in the world of sport.
As we’ve launched the beta version of The Sweat Experience earlier this summer, this is the beginning of this world being created for athletes. We have some upcoming athletes testing out the platform currently such as Anna Burnett (GB Sailing), Hafsa Kamara (100 and 200m sprinter), Lily Edwards (Crystal Palace Academy player).
The Sweat Experience aims to empower and serve athletes. Continue to follow our journey as we continue to help you showcase yours.
