sweet ’n’ sour tape #23: HELLO

This piece signifies the beginning.

Four years ago, I wrote the first tape; it represented the end of our friendship as two people who could talk every day. Little did they know that their future selves would end up living together and how that would end up being a brief moment in their hopefully vast lives.

It’s crazy how life works.

Tape #23 is more optimistic; this is the beginning of our friendship as two adults; whether we like it or not, we are not children.

Kids no more, just two guys who are hustling, and headed towards andromeda; how we get there will be different, but the end goal of world domination remains the same.

Now, as adults, though, we can’t afford to make any careless mistakes; of course, mistakes will happen, and it’s not an L as long as we continue to learn, but we can’t be dumb and expect no real consequences. And, as two equals, no one needs to take care of the other.

We’ll always be there for support. We are the last people to remember that version of ourselves when we were nine years old, and that is remarkable. The connection is rooted in our souls.

With that! Welcome to adulthood, the next phase of our relationship, the next season of our lives.

So let’s carefully tread these waters, take it slow and not spend too much time looking back. I don’t have too much else to say, except I’m writing this in my studio and the light peaking through the blinds hit different.
