Commander, Scott Lambert, officers and members of Medford VFW 7677 in concert with the Burlington County Military Affairs Committee hosted families of local active duty military folks at a holiday dinner on Dec. 10.

Forty-one children were in attendance accompanied by 50 or more adults. Each child personally received a gift from Santa and Mrs. Claus. There were several families that had only one parent on hand as the spouse is currently deployed.

Thankfully, Bob Rockhill and his wife Linda were able to pry Santa and Mrs. Claus away from their North Pole headquarters for the annual event. Post 7677 has been hosting this event for more than 10 years. All present had a great meal, which was prepared by chef Denny Ward and his outstanding crew.

During the dinner each family got the microphone and was able to tell a bit of their family story.

Also in support of the event were:

  • Tabernacle mayor Joseph Barton pitched in a few words and his presence.
  • The VFW 7677 Ladies Auxillary president, Alice Sandman along with members Mary Ryan Sandman and Jo Ann Moore.
  • Thanks to the VFW 7677 Men’s Auxiliary for their help, too. President Tony Dovell brought several of their members to the happy event. Steve Halbach worked with the kitchen crew.
  • Very special thanks go to Frank Pucci, our hall chairman, and to Mary Ann Rivell, BCMAC Public Information Officer, who coordinated the attendance for the entire event.

Santa asked us to be sure and extend a hearty “Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays” to all of the wonderful folks in the community.
