Opening Day ceremonies for the Tabernacle Athletic Association Baseball and Softball programs will be held on Saturday, April 11 at 10 am at Patty Bowker Fields. Kicking off the annual tradition, players from both programs will proudly march onto the field with their bright, clean uniforms eagerly awaiting the start of a new season and some much anticipated warmth and sunshine.

As part of the festivities, TAA Baseball will award its fifth annual Sean Clegg Memorial College Scholarship Fund award of $1,000 to Seneca High School Senior Erick Endt. According to TAA officials, Endt, who played TAA Baseball from T-Ball through Babe Ruth, wrote an inspiring essay which recalled his years of playing township baseball and learning about teamwork, sportsmanship, and having fun.”Playing in the rain, final inning pressure, and all the great memories I had are experiences I can’t wait to share with my kids,” wrote Endt, who plans to attend Burlington County College after graduation. He continued: “I am grateful for the lessons I learned from the TAA community to help me become the respectful person I have become today.”

Following the scholarship presentation, players from baseball and softball will throw out the ceremonial first pitch and shout in unison those famous words, “Play Ball” to officially start the season. TAA representatives encourage parents and all members of the Tabernacle community to attend the Opening Day ceremony and help celebrate the kickoff of our national pastime.
