Story and Slideshow: Grace Place Preschool holds “Family Fun Night”
Preschoolers enjoy reading and painting Grace Place during event
On Friday, March 24, children and adults gathered at Grace Place Preschool for “Family Fun Night.” The event was held to celebrate Read Across America and Dr. Seuss. Grace Place, located in Tabernacle, had multiple activities going on throughout the night.
“March is Dr. Seuss’ birthday, and it is also Reading Across America,” said Grace Place Preschool Director Deborah DeMarco. “I wanted to blend the two together and have the kids come out, read them a story and do some painting. Also, it allows them to celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday. It is a lot of fun.”
“I chose the ceramic painting because it is very popular right now, so I thought it would be a great thing for the kids and it is easy to do with them to do at their age since we have ages 3 to around 6 or 7. I thought it would be an easy thing for them to do with their hands and have some fun.”
Children from ages 3 to 7 attended the event at the preschool, located on the grounds of Lord of Life Lutheran Church.
“I’m hoping that a lot of the kids who are students here get to meet some of the future students that will be coming in September,” DeMarco said. “Also, I hope to get to meet some other members of the community. This is what we are about here at Grace Place. We like to bring the community together and meet new people.”
Lord of Life Lutheran Church pastor David Jones was also on hand to witness the festivities.
“I am always thrilled when a church is welcoming of families and children, whether they are members or friends of the congregation that what this is all about. It’s cool to see everybody here,” Jones said. “I hope that they discover that church is a place of great joy. Young people have much to teach us, and we learn a lot from them. I go back to Jesus when he said ‘You have to go back to a child to enter the Kingdom.’ That’s what goes on.”
The preschool is looking to host other events similar to “Family Fun Night” in the future.
