Takmila Beta Launch
Introduction
For a long time I’ve been working on a website. The purpose of this website is to give users the ability to click on any verse and find all other verses in the Quran that are contextually related to it. This is done not by keyword searching as is the case for many other similar website but by someone going through each of the verses and adding attributes to them. Unfortunately I’m not a programmer so work is very slow, however I do have many long term goals for this website.
What is takmila?
Bringing Islam and technology together
Takmila is a website that is dedicated towards Islam and technology. The long term goal of this website is to create and promote new technologies to make advances in the resources and facilities that help the Muslim Ummah as well as non-Muslims in understanding, learning and implementing Islam in their lives.
Short Term goals
In the short term I would like Takmila to provide an engaging and new way to read and interact with the Quran.
Goal 1
The larger short term goal is for Takmila to become a repository for students and teachers of the Quran, where they will easily be able to get access to accurate and relevant Ayaat for any of the 6,000+ Ayaat in the Quran. This will be achieved by scholars going through all of the Ayaat and giving them one or more specific contextual attribute. When any Ayat is clicked on it will bring forward all other Ayaat with that specific attribute.
Goal 2
The other aim is to provide an interactive Quran that looks exactly like the physical counterpart from all around the world so that it provides a seamless transition to the digital format making it easier to jump between the two. The importance of this is exemplified with the need for Huffaz to keep to one standard design of the Quran.
Near term goals
When the short term goals of Takmila have been achieved, I would like to repeat the process with Bukhari and the other 5 great books of Hadith. This will increase the scope of Takmila greatly by providing both relevant Quran Ayaat as well as the relevant Ahadith for any Quran Ayat or Hadith.
Long term goals
Goal 1
In the long run I want to repeat the process done with the Quran and then later the 6 great books of Hadith and expand to all other books in Islam. Starting with books of Tafseer.
Goal 2
To explore new ways to help Muslims better themselves throughout their daily lives by making products, services, software and hardware dedicated towards the specific needs of Muslims in this day and age. This will be done by bringing Islam to the forefront of technology and then to push the boundaries of technology all whilst staying within the boundaries of Islam. At first this is going to be a website aimed mostly at the scholars and students of Islam but in the future Takmila will cater to everyone.
