In the world of food mascots, there are a couple of names that seem pretty timeless. Ronald McDonald, Burger King…even the Taco Bell Chihuahua has a certain timelessness about it. Once in a while, these top names don’t have staying power and fade into obscurity.
Though rare, iconic mascots sometimes just lose traction and get put to the back of the public eye. They stop being household names as years pass. Such was the case with Elsie the Borden Cow and her husband Elmer — who you might recognize from Elmer’s Glue.
Yep. Back in the day, Elmer the bull from Elmer’s Glue-All was a legit mascot. And he was married to Elsie the Borden Cow. Together, they were a power couple quite literally unlike any other in the food marketing sphere.
