A New Way Of Hiring
I've been in the tech scene for around six years now and I've been through a lot of interviews - giving some and taking some too!
I was writing one blog when I came across this cool new way of hiring on Medium.
This is the blog:
What I came across got me really intrigued and excited. I couldn’t believe how creative it was!
As a coder or developer, we use the browser console a lot. If you don't know what the browser console is, it's basically a tool that lets you inspect and debug web pages.
So, while I was writing that blog. I had to open the browser console. And then, out of nowhere, I saw something really interesting.
Looking at this, in my opinion, here is Medium employees’ thought process:
They know that majorly a developer would only go to the browser console to navigate their website’s frontend.
They want to grab attention and eventually hire such a curious developer by providing a link to one of their blogs explaining how to get hired at Medium.
This just shows how Medium’s culture is — cool and nerdy and for developers that's heaven.
Normally when you are looking for a job you go and check the following portals:
- LinkedIn Jobs.
- Career Pages of companies ( Most common).
This hiring process is so cool! You just randomly land on the console and go straight to the career page. It's like nothing I've ever seen before.
In Conclusion
I think this creative way of hiring is a really amazing idea targeting the correct audience which can help in shortlisting good candidates.
So, keep it going Medium, really impressed.
