6 years ago, back in 2017, Apple announced its iPhone X, and one of its biggest selling features was finally the addition of an OLED display to Apple’s lineup of phones, and ever since, the flagship iPhones have always gotten themselves an OLED display like so many flagships out there.

However, this was not the first time that companies used OLED displays as they have been around a long time before that, and they have always been considered to be the best and most premium of all display formats, but why is it that all companies consider it the most superior of displays?

OLEDs explained

LCDs have been the standard of displays for years, and to this day, they are still probably the most used display format out there since they are still cheap and pretty reliable, but ever since OLEDs started being a thing, companies started shifting to them to make their devices better.

LCDs use backlighting technology in which a layer of lights is installed in place behind the main display to provide the light needed to make the main display visible, however, this is not the case for OLEDs.
