The introduction of the Rohingya people and the crisis they are facing requires no further explanation. The Rohingya are a majority-Muslim ethnic group of people who have lived in the Buddhist nation of Myanmar for centuries. They’ve been described as the “world’s most persecuted minority” and probably this is the most brutal situation seen in the world today and in a scale which has not been seen in recent times.

The Rohingya have faced persecution at the hands of Myanmar’s military since the country’s independence in the late 1940s. But the most important thing is nobody comes to stop them. Myanmar army still continues the brutality by ignoring world’s top leaders. So, for the time being, the Rohingya people are fleeing Myanmar to live as refugees in Bangladesh and they’re still coming.

As a neighbor country, the Bangladesh government and people as well, have already shown their kindness & support for Rohingya refugee by giving shelters, reliefs, and all other necessary support available.

Providing relief to someone is very easy but giving shelter to someone is extremely difficult as they’re huge in number. Bangladesh is a small country with a big heart and the people here are doing their best for these distressed refugees.

Last month, we were in a team of 8 people that visited the spot for distributing some reliefs for Rohingya people at one of their camps at Paharpara, Naikhongchri, Bandarban in Bangladesh. The main thing we’d seen is the lack of proper distribution of reliefs as a lot of organizations and groups are continuously coming to help Rohingya people, but not in any form of a centralized system. This is why one family is getting a lot whereas, others are not. The bigger thing is the transparency in the fundraising, how much is exactly collected is never being clarified to the fund donators.

Updates: Good news is, Bangladesh government has already assigned “Bangladesh Army” to manage funds and reliefs for Rohingya refugees.

Around 550 members of the 10th Infantry Division of Bangladesh Army prepared a code of conduct on September 23, when they started working on relief distribution and rehabilitation of the forcibly displaced Myanmar nationals as Bangla Tribune has mentioned.
