Apple Watch 2 Might Be 20–40% Thinner than Its Predecessor

The much speculated Apple Watch 2 was expected to launch in September along with an iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, but now some sources are claiming that it may arrive sooner. Some analysts are now hoping that we will see the device much sooner, perhaps even in June at the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC).

Apple analyst Brian White of Drexel Hamilton who is on a Chinese tech tour now issued a pair of research notes highlighting his upcoming Apple Watch and iPhone expectations through the end of 2016. He noted that the Apple Watch may also get slimmer.

“Finally, we walked away with the sense that the Apple Watch refresh will not occur in September with the iPhone 7, but is more likely to occur within the next 2–3 months, and thus we believe an unveiling at WWDC in June makes sense. We believe Apple Watch 2 could be 20–40% thinner than the current Apple Watch.”

This is not the first time that someone is predicting so. In September 2015, an analyst of Cowen and Company — Timothy Arcuri had also claimed that the Apple Watch 2 would be thinner than current models. Apart from this, the Apple Watch 2 is also expected to sport a brand new design for an ultra-tiny CPU, that could be an ARM Cortex A32 processor in a 32-bit powerhouse.
