Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge — The Best Ever Samsung Phones Officially Launced

Samsung unveiled its long-awaited flagship smartphone — the new S7 and S7 edge at its Galaxy Unpacked event today at MWC 2016 in Barcelona.

The beautiful new devices restore a couple of popular features that were missing in the S6 line. Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge come with water resistance and a microSD card slot. These phones are a bit thicker than the previous generation because they have got huge battery capacity. The S7 is 1.1mm thicker and 14 grams heavier than the S6.

The S7 and S7 Edge have a 5.1 and 5.5 inches quad HD Super AMOLED displays respectively. The rounded Edge on the sides makes them comfortable to hold. Especially on the Edge version that has a less sharp angle where the front and back meet.

They are pretty much similar to the S6’s design and feature set. Yet the numerous changes and improvements Samsung brought, this time, make them the best phones that Samsung has ever made.

Here’s the official video Introduction of Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge

Longer Lasting Batteries

Samsung notably upgraded the battery this time. The S7 is powered by 3,000mAh battery whereas the S6 had 2,550mAh. And the S7 edge will grow to 3,600mAh from 2,600mAh.

Both devices have a Dual Pixel 12MP camera with subpixel technology used in professional cameras that activate just like your eyes for split-second autofocus. Its f/1.7 aperture and larger pixels technology capture more light for brighter photos even if you shoot in the night or in the dark.

Always-On Display

They also feature an always-on display similar to that seen in LG G-series phones. That means the phone will still display the time and recent notifications in a low-power mode while you don’t use the phone.

Gear 360

The new phones break the boundaries of what a phone can do with the Gear 360 and Gear VR. Now you can record your life with the 360 cameras, preview it on the S7, the 5-inch phone will work as your personal 360 cinema screen.

Water Resistant and MicroSD Support

The new phones have IP68 water resistance ratings. So they can be safely immersed to depths of 1.5m (4.9ft) for up to 30 minutes. And they support MicroSD cards with up to 200 gigabytes of storage, which fit into the same tray as their SIM cards.

The high-end premium priced phones will be available for pre-orders from Tuesday, February 23 and both models will hit the stores on March 11.
