Microsoft has quite unexpectedly launched two new extremely affordable feature phones. The Nokia 216 and Nokia 216 Dual SIM are the two classic mobile phones and come in the shops of the first world countries this fall.

The two devices can be seen as the successor to the Nokia 215 and Nokia 215 Dual SIMin early 2015. Both devices have a classic design with a large 2.4-inch color display which is combined with a spacious numeric keypad.

AVAILABILITY

For the time being the two new mobile phones are announced only for the Indian market and get there a retail price of the equivalent of about 35 euros.

Although not yet confirmed by Microsoft, it is in line with expectations that the Nokia 216 and Nokia 216 Dual SIM also will be released in Europe.

EXTREME DURABILITY

Something in which both the devices in excel is durability. A fully charged battery provides a standby time of up to 24 days and a talk time up to 18 hours. The phones are so energy efficient that you can listen to MP3s up to 47 hours on single battery charge.

The Nokia 216 and Nokia 216 Dual SIM are technically identical to each other except that the Nokia 216 Dual Sim — as its name indicates — has dual-sim support.

CAMERA

Both phones have a simple VGA camera at the rear and the front. The front camera is intended for selfies. Since both devices have just about 2G (GSM) support, neither can make video phone calls.

INTERNET

The Nokia 216 and Nokia 216 Dual SIM are called ‘feature phones‘ but with internet support. Both phones were provided by the Opera Mini browser. This browser is known for its low data consumption and high speed, even at low internet speeds on 2G networks.
