Samsung Lacks Software Expertise, Said Its Executives

The Korean giant, Samsung, is not immune from any struggle. Yes, it has its share of crisis. It is struggling along with the whole smartphone industry. Despite being one of the biggest names in tech, this mobile company is facing challenges to compete with others.

It is being forced to cut prices to compete with various Chinese upstarts. But where does this news come from? According to Reuters, some former and even current company executives are privately chalking up the company’s mobile woes to more than just stiff competition. Apparently Samsung’s relative lack of experience in software development, especially after years of selling boxes. In particular, sources apparently point to Samsung’s rapid launch and closure of both its Milk streaming service and ChatOn messaging app. Also, reportedly, Samsung hired a well-regarded UX firm to help design its user interfaces.

An insider from Samsung told Reuters, ‘There’s a lot of distrust of top executives who can actually implement stuff that is more of a software and services offering.’
It is important to note that software giants like Google and Microsoft are also quick to shutter unpopular apps. It’s hard to fault Samsung’s decision to not continue pumping money into them if they weren’t proving popular with users. Having said that, it still remains the world’s top most android smartphone manufacturer. Perhaps its decline has been stretched too far.
