Sit on your couch and watch Facebook videos directly on your TV

It’s time to sit on your couch and watch Facebook videos on your TV. Surprising but true that the social network is rolling out a Facebook video app, designed to let you enjoy Facebook videos directly from your big screen TV.

“With the app, you can watch videos shared by friends or Pages you follow, top live videos from around the world, and recommended videos based on your interests,” the company said in a blog post. “You can also catch up on videos you’ve saved to watch later, as well as revisit videos you’ve watched, shared or uploaded.”

ANOTHER STEP INTO THE VIDEO MARKET?

Facebook already lets users flick videos from their smartphone’s to a connected TV. But this step has removed the need for a secondary device. Drawing another move by the company into the video market. Facebook video app will initially be available on Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV and Samsung Smart TVs.

The news comes as the social media giant’s move towards original content. Last week, Facebook hired a former MTV executive to help create “original content” for the platform.

In addition to Facebook video app, the company also announced few other new features. Audio for Facebook videos will now play automatically if your device’s sound is turned on. However, if you want them to remain silent, you can go to Settings and turn off the “Videos in News Feed Start With Sound” option. You can also keep watching videos in minimized windows while you’re scrolling through your newsfeed. Also, Facebook is making vertical videos look better. It’s including a larger format that extends the view to take up more of your smartphone screen.
