The aftermath of WannaCry continues…
As the epidemic ransomware attack called “WannaCry” managed to infect more than 100 nations worldwide that recently caused the French car manufacturer Renault to cease its manufacturing process starting from Saturday onwards.
CLOSE DOWN CONFIRMATION BY RENAULT FACTORIES
The Automotive News confirmed the closedown of Renault’s factory in Sandouville factory stating,
“proactive measures have been put in place, including the temporary suspension of industrial activity at some sites”
The company refrained from sharing further information regarding the closedown of its other subsidiaries. The company’s partner Nissan was also gravely affected by the cyber attack. Another spokesperson confirmed that Nissan’s patented documents were already compromised on Friday.
The spokesperson at Renault assured Reuters that Renault’s factories will restart its usual activities from Monday onwards, at least the majority of its factories.
THE IGNITER OF THIS MASSIVE CYBER ATTACK:
The Wannacry ransomware started to set things on fire on Friday night, affecting systems in UK, Spain and Russia’s ministry. The attack primarily utilizes an EternalBlue, a tool designed by NASA for crumpling down the security features of Windows OS.
UNABLE TO TAKE THE CONSEQUENCES OF THE BLAME, MICROSOFT HAS LAUNCHED AN UNUSUAL PATCH FOR WINDOWS XP TO PREVENT FURTHER DAMAGES AS SUCH.
Meanwhile, a 22-year old cyber security researcher had accidentally suppressed the attack by registering on one website domain.
