Tinder comes with transgender identity option

Dating app Tinder launched a new transgender identity option on Tuesday, for the completion of the race. Users can now fill in themselves what their gender identity is. You don’t have to choose only for man or woman anymore.

When choosing a gender identity, users can fill out a sex, or choose from a long list of suggestions. With the new feature, Tinder hopes to help transgender people to avoid confusion in the future.

In the app, it is possible to submit complaints about others. This can be done if someone is annoying or breaking the rules. Tinder received many complaints related to transgender people because it is often not well on a picture to see whether someone is a man or a woman. With the new feature, the confusion must be eliminated.

“No one will ever be banned from Tinder because of their gender. We haven’t had the right tools to serve our diverse community in the past, but that changes today.”

Tinder writes in a blog post.

“In addition to this new feature, we are learning to be a better ally to transgender and gender non-conforming communities by allocating additional resources to our support team, which includes educating our staff about the challenges facing these communities.”

These people also often got nasty comments via the app. Tinder hopes to change that with this change. The dating app also hopes that people can bring more understanding for this group by explaining what a transgender is and what problems these people face.
